The Cowon iAudio D2 is a very advanced Korean MP3 player with numerable special features such as a touch screen, FM radio, BBE sound enhancements, SD/SDHC card slot and TV-output. This is an extremely slim player. The Cowon iAudio D2 operates in a full touch screen mode.

Cowon iAudio D2 weighs up to 91 g. its dimensions are 78.00 x 55.4 x 16.6 mm. It looks like a flat tablet in our palm with a 2.5 inch TFT-LCD screen. There are absolutely no other buttons other than this on the front screen. All the activities are controlled using the touch screen interface. Despite this, the front screen is scratch free.
On the top of the player we have two volume control buttons and a menu button. There is a power button which doubles as a slider button as well. Using the new firmware version a person can assign any required task to these buttons as per their wish.
We have an audio jack which also works as a power jack on the left side. There are two hidden USB ports as well. On the right side there is a hole to attach a lanyard loop and a stylus via that. The stylus could be used to browse through the player instead of our fingers. It can also be used as a stand to mount the MP3 player in 50 and 75 degree angles.

Even though most of the functions are done touching the screen, the video quality is crisp and clean. Video file formats such as MPEG4-SP (DivX, XviD) and WMV9 are supported with the speed of 30 frames per second.
The audio formats like MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WMA, FLAC, APE, WAV and AAC are supported. Audio quality is quite excellent. BBE sound enhancements are used to provide crystal clear sound. The device itself has 4 GB memory space. Apart from this, we can expand the memory further by using SDHC supported SD card slots. This gives ample storage space to store huge amount of songs and videos.
The battery life is also excellent. It gives 46 hours and 23 minutes standby time in lab tests. The battery life score for the device was 85%. The overall speed of the MP3 player is amazing. Navigating using the touch screen as well as transferring data in and out of Cowon iAudio D2 is quite fast. Other activities like compressing the files, zipping them and one step conversion from one file format to other are also done with great speed.
The MP3 player is MSC/UMS compliant and is compatible with windows, MAC and Linux OS. Advanced software like JetShell file manager and JetAudio VX audio/ video converter are embedded in Cowon iAudio D2. Navigation through the device using both touch screen and stylus is very easy. The Good
Cowon iAudio D2 is one of the best MP3 players created ever. There are numerous advantages in this player like excellent audio, video quality and great memory extensions using SD/SDHC card slot. Other special features include TV outputs, enhanced BBE audio, user friendly menu settings and informative large screen with great resolution.
The Bad
Though the touch screen facility works fine in most of the places, it can be quite annoying to use it in some places. There are no proper buttons to handle the menu in those places. The stylus which doubles as stand does not seem to serve its purpose so well. Though numerous file formats are supported music could be recorded only in WMA format. No gapless playback and the data transfer seem to become slow suddenly.
Areas that can be improved
Many users feel that it is hard to use the stylus. Some improvement in the design is required. A few hardware buttons to enable easy use would not go amiss.

Cowon iAudio D2 is one of the best products in the MP3 market. It is a next generation MP3 player with amazing design and features.
