Transcend's new T.Sonic MP650 is a very versatile MP3 player. It has built-in FM radio, one touch recording function and variable playback speed options. The sound quality is excellent and the MP3 player is very easy to use. It comes in 4 GB and 8 GB versions.
The T.Sonic MP650 is a small player weighing about 30gms. The design of T.Sonic MP650 is similar to many other MP3 players in the market. Its dimensions are 75mm x 31mm x 13 mm so it is very slim, portable yet durable.
The upper part of this small MP3 player has an OLED screen. This dual-color screen is designed in such a way its content could be viewed from any angle. Its content could be viewed clearly even in broad daylight.
Below the OLED screen we have a small control pad surrounded by volume controls and shuffle buttons. We have an audio jack which also acts a power jack at the bottom. On one side of the MP3 player we have a USB port. On the other side we have the power/pause button, hold button and the reset hole.

T.Sonic MP650 has good audio quality. Audio file formats such as MP3, WMA, WAV, and WMA-DRM10 subscription music are supported. The audio output score for the player is 78 percent. This MP3 player has an FM radio with good tuner and 20 presets. The songs heard could be easily recorded using One Touch Recording Option if necessary.
There is a special feature called Voice Activity Detection. This feature allows us to recognize voice, record personal voices and prepare memos using them. It also allows us to record long voice phrases like classroom lectures and other personal music and conversations.
There is another feature called A-B Repeat enabling the user to hear the same portion of a recording for desired number of times. Also the speed of the recording could be altered to be made slower or faster using the Variable Playback Speed feature.
The immense storage space (8GB) allows the user to store up to 2000 songs. There is a special customizable equalizer setting called USER EQ setting and seven built in equalizer effects. This MP3 player can display basic text like song name and artist name in 13 languages. The user can choose the language they prefer best.
The overall performance of T.Sonic MP650 is quite fast and the controls respond well. The user interface is normal to use. The overall ease of usage score for the device is 80 percent. The battery life of the MP3 player lasts for 15 hours.

The battery life is quite impressive with 15 hours working time.
Transcend T.sonic MP650 is capable of displaying text like artist name and song name in 13 different languages. It also has an inbuilt Real Time Clock which shows different times in different places across the globe as well as local time.
Transcend T.sonic MP650 has a mini USB port for transfer of files and a USB flash drive for data storage.
The Good
Transcend T.sonic MP650 has numerous good features. The main highlight of the MP3 player is its excellent sound quality. There is no distortion or hissing sound while hearing songs of any genre. Even the recorded tracks and conversations are very apt and clear without any background noise. They have unique advanced recording options.
Immense storage capacity, fast data transfer and sensitive controls are its other highlights. The menu navigation is so easy. Even advanced features could be accessed through minimal navigation steps. The battery life is also quite impressive. The score for reliability given to this unit is 77%.
There are a few drawbacks in Transcend T.sonic MP650. Though there are many advanced recording options in the player, other main features expected like video support, expandable memory slot and Bluetooth are missing. This player is solely dedicated for hearing audio and recording audio. This minimizes the usage of the unit.
Areas that can be improved
It will be very useful to hav video support added. Other normal facilities, such as Bluetooth and expandable memory slots for example, will help in widening the use of the MP3 player.
The Verdict
If you are interested in trying a hand on all the hi-tech recording options along with excellent quality audio then Transcend T.sonic MP650 is the best choice. All the highlighted features of the set work wonderfully. The unit has obtained one of the highest overall scores given to an MP3 player which is 79%.
